Designer Lighting Store supplied decorative lighting to The Monro, a landmark Liverpool public house established in 1765. Following its closure in 2023, the venue reopened after a considered refurbishment that refreshed the space while preserving its traditional character. The design focused on delivering warm, authentic illumination across bar, seating and feature areas—supporting day-to-night trading and reinforcing the pub’s heritage interiors.

Lighting Solution

A coordinated scheme of heritage-style feature pendants and decorative wall lighting was specified throughout the venue. Statement multi-arm chandeliers with opal glass shades provide soft, diffused ambient light, while wall lights add secondary layers to support artwork, vintage signage and perimeter seating zones. Together, the fittings create a cohesive, period-appropriate atmosphere without glare, balancing visual comfort with the practical requirements of a busy hospitality setting.

The lighting enhances the Monro’s rich interior palette—dark timbers, exposed brickwork, open log fire, framed prints and traditional detailing—adding depth and warmth across the space. The result is a welcoming ambience that transitions seamlessly from daytime service to evening trading, and supports the venue’s live music moments with flattering, atmospheric light rather than harsh spotlighting.
