We travel the globe visiting lighting factories and network events to build relationships with the world's leading decorative lighting brands, and by doing this we can guarantee that the products we sell are of the highest quality.

Our Lighting Journey

Our journey began in the 70's when Robert's father, Brian Parkes, moved from Northern Ireland to Scotland to start what would become a successful lighting career. Starting out as a lighting specialist, in the late 1990's Brian then opened his own company working with designers and trade professionals, supplying decorative lighting to projects around the world.

As a boy growing up in the 80's, Robert was constantly surrounded by lighting chat. Years of visiting hotels with his father studying lights and learning about lampshades was lighting 'Jedi' training (he just never knew it). He saw how lighting design trends, materials and LED evolved through the years. In 2002, after many years in the Micro-electrics industry, Robert joined Brian in the Family Lighting business, eventually becoming the face of the company in 2006.

Robert and Steph met in 2019 when she was working as a Lighting Project Co-Ordinator. In 2021, Steph joined Robert in the company, bringing her lighting project knowledge and customer service skills. They represented some of the worlds top lightings brands, working with professionals within the design and hospitality industry.

In 2023, Robert and Steph decided it was time to grow and the Designer Lighting e-commerce Store was launched. We are now one of the leading lighting suppliers/retailers in the industry.
