Project Overview

The Carlton is one of Ayrshire's most recognised hospitality destinations, renowned for hosting luxury weddings, private celebrations and corporate events. As part of an ongoing investment in its event facilities, the venue sought to elevate its principal ballroom with a contemporary lighting scheme that would enhance both the daytime and evening atmosphere while creating a memorable visual centrepiece for guests.

Designer Lighting Store was appointed to supply the decorative lighting for the ballroom, delivering a collection of striking two-tier crystal LED pendants that now define the space.

The Lighting Solution

The brief called for a lighting scheme that would complement the ballroom's modern interior whilst providing the elegance and sense of occasion expected from a leading wedding venue.

To achieve this, Designer Lighting Store supplied a series of contemporary two-tier crystal LED pendants installed throughout the ballroom. Featuring concentric illuminated crystal rings suspended at varying heights, the fittings create a sophisticated floating effect that adds both sparkle and architectural presence to the room.

The crystal detailing delivers a luxurious appearance while the integrated LED technology provides efficient, consistent illumination. The repeated arrangement of the pendants across the ceiling helps unify the large open-plan space, creating visual rhythm and ensuring every area of the ballroom benefits from the same high-end aesthetic.

The clean circular forms of the fittings contrast beautifully against the coffered ceiling design, becoming a standout feature whether the room is configured for wedding ceremonies, banquets, receptions or corporate events.

Creating Atmosphere

One of the key advantages of the installation is its versatility. The fittings can be integrated with the venue's existing lighting controls, allowing light levels to be adjusted to suit different functions throughout the day and evening.

From bright and welcoming settings during conferences and daytime events to softer, more intimate scenes for wedding breakfasts and evening receptions, the lighting helps transform the character of the space while maintaining a consistent sense of luxury.

The Result

The completed installation has transformed The Carlton's ballroom into a contemporary and elegant event space, capable of hosting everything from wedding ceremonies and receptions to gala dinners and corporate functions. The two-tier crystal LED pendants create a striking visual feature throughout the venue, delivering a sense of luxury and occasion while complementing the ballroom's modern interior design.

Their sculptural ring design and crystal detailing provide both decorative impact and practical illumination, helping to create an inviting atmosphere for guests throughout the day and into the evening.

The project forms part of The Carlton's continued commitment to enhancing its guest experience and event facilities. Following these investments, the venue went on to receive national recognition, being crowned "Scotland's Best Wedding Hotel" at the prestigious Scottish Hotel Awards, further cementing its reputation as one of the country's leading wedding and events destinations.
